Legacy Giving

A present decision to to make a future gift

The Northshore Education Consortium (NEC) invites you to consider creating a lasting legacy for the students we serve by including the Friends of NEC in your long-term charitable plans.

What is Legacy Giving?

Legacy giving is a term that covers all kinds of deferred charitable gifts including bequests (gifts from a person’s will), trusts and/or gifts of retirement benefits. These gifts benefit both the Northshore Education Consortium and you, by creating a legacy that will last for generations.

While legacy giving does not require a large income or vast estate it does require a thoughtful intention to make a difference where it matters most to you.

Advantages of Legacy Giving

The advantages to you, the donor, are many— tax benefits, recognition and the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to ensure our mission to change the educational experience of students with special needs, by offering high quality, cost-effective school programs, consultation, support services, and resources.

The O’Grady Legacy Society

The O’Grady Legacy Society recognizes a special community of people: those who know deeply the value of standing together and who have chosen to include the Friends of NEC in their long term charitable giving plans.

As a member of the O’Grady Legacy Society, you will:

  • Create a lasting legacy to support NEC’s misson

  • Be prominently listed as an O’Grady Legacy Society member on our Wall of Honor

  • Receive a special invitation to our biannual recognition event

  • Be highlighted as an O’Grady Legacy Society member in our Annual Report

How to Make a Legacy Gift

The two most common ways to help our students right now are:

  • Through a codicil in your will that might read: “I give and bequeath ($_ ) dollars or ( _%) of my estate to to Friends of Northshore Education Consortium, 112 Sohier Road, Beverly, MA 01915, for its general purposes (or for a specific program determined in consultation with Friends of Northshore Education Consortium).”

  • A designation of a specific amount or percentage of your retirement plan assets (your Human Resource Office can easily help in creating that desired designation).

Always remember to consult with your legal and tax advisors regarding your specific situation. You can restrict your gift or leave it unrestricted.

If you have already named the Friends of NEC in your estate plans, please let us know.
