BIOGRAPHY
Maureen Michaud
Maureen Michaud, Director of ACES, is a MA certified special and regular education teacher. She studied Marriage and Family Counseling (M.S. in Psychology) at Salem State College and received her Masters of Education in Special Education (grades PreK to 12). Maureen received a graduate certificate in applied behavior analysis (ABA) from the University of Massachusetts Boston allowing her to sit for and pass the Behavior Analyst Certification Boards (BACB) graduate level board exam. She is currently a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing.
Maureens roots in special education date back to when she was a teenager who volunteered as a camp counselor at Camp Paul in Chelmsford, MA. Following graduation she developed and taught an integrated preschool program for the Beverly Public Schools prior to coming to the Northshore Education Consortium (NEC) in 1995. At NEC Maureen began as a teacher for children on the autism spectrum ages 6 to 12, then worked in students homes with their families providing behavioral strategies consistent with school and compatible with family dynamics. In 2005 Maureen became the director of ACES*, which provides student, family and staff services (consulting, staff training, vision, mobility, home training, program development, etc) to member districts of the Northshore Education Consortium. In addition to supervision of ACES staff, Maureen also provides consultation and staff training to public schools employees from grades preschool to 12.
Maureen derives satisfaction from applying her teaching skills, behavioral expertise, and counseling training to help children with special needs succeed in the home, school and community. Her direct teaching experience with students with special learning needs allows her to better understand the complexities teachers and administrators meet while striving to provide students and families with exemplary treatment services.
