For over 30 years, the Northshore Education Consortium has made it our mission to "be there" for children and youth with special needs. In order to fulfill this mission, the Consortium has expanded programming and services each year to meet the needs of North Shore students.
To best do this, the Consortium acted on the need to secure long term placements for our programs. Relocating these programs over the Consortium’s thirty four years of operation has been a necessity that has required our parents, students and staff to be sojourners of sorts. Whether is has been a district’s need to reclaim space within their public schools where Consortium programs operated or whether it was our own need for additional or more specialized space, the Consortium has been on the move since its conception.
A shift toward securing these long term placements began in 2004 with the purchases of 112 Sohier Road. Then earlier this year, with the continued financial backing of Danversbank, the Consortium purchased the previously leased space in West Peabody. With the steady growth of our programs and the unexpected opportunity to utilize the McKeown School in Beverly this summer, the strategic planning and placement for programs changed to capture three crucial moves this past summer. With these moves, students are now in educational settings that best meet their academic and development needs.
Staying abreast of the ever changing climate within our state’s educational system is one challenge but securing additional funding to enable us to provide the absolute best services and interventions to our students that afford them the same opportunities available to other students is quite another challenge.
Your gift to the Northshore Education Consortium is invaluable to our students and it directly impacts our ability to grow in meeting the needs of a very special population of students. Thank you for helping us "be there" as, together, we seek to meet the changing needs of a very unique population of students.
