On April 10th, the Northshore Education Consortium held its Celebrate Our Future event at the Sheraton Ferncroft in Danvers. Over 350 people helped recognize Dr. Jefferson B. Prince as the Consortium’s first Community Partner. Dr. Prince is the Director of Child Psychiatry at North Shore Children’s Hospital and has been a long time friend and consultant to the Consortium and to the many children and families it serves. The evening which included a silent auction of over 40 items and a live auction facilitated by Colleene Fesko of Skinner Inc. of Boston raised over $30,000. The live auction was highlighted by a week’s vacation in the Bahamas. “I never anticipated this tremendous outpouring of community enthusiasm and support. The response to this event far exceeded my every expectation,” stated Event Chair and parent, Susan Williams of Beverly. “All the money raised will be used for the “extras” that are so important to our students. Our therapeutic horseback riding, music, art and enhanced technology will continue to be funded and we can begin to work on a playground for our most developmentally handicapped students and the development of a graphic design lab for our alternative high school,” noted Bob Gass, the Consortium’s Executive Director.
